This month, we celebrate our members. From the graduate student beginning their practicum search to the retired member that makes that homecoming trip to conference each year…you are appreciated!
And we are launching this month with tons of FREE Members only benefits to show our gratitude to your dedication to the profession. This month will take you on a journey from Region 2 Connect in Burlington on May 3 to Maternity Mental Health First Friday on May 5th.
LCCNC then celebrates Advocacy Day with an Advocacy in Action webinar on May 15th followed by Advocacy Day at the NC General Assembly on May 16th.
And as we are very aware of with recent legislation, we must be vigilant about protecting our counselor identity. Enjoy a free webinar and hybrid networking event on this topic on May 23rd.

Special thanks to the NCBLCMHC. The LCCNC Board of Directors has released its official position statement on SB 337 published to lccnc.org.
The LCCNC Advocacy Committee published “2023 Bills of Interest” to lccnc.org. We are closely monitoring legislation that affects the profession and the people we serve.

Member of the Week: Travis Shoulars, LCMHC |
Travis Shoulars is a National Board Certified Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. He is a graduate of Elizabeth City State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He later earned master degrees in Public Administration and Mental Health Counseling from Strayer University and Capella University respectfully. Mr. Shoulars resides in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He became licensed to practice counseling in 2018 and has worked with clientsutilizing evidence-based approaches to treat a myriad of diagnoses to include but not limited to Major Depressive Disorder, anxiety related disorders and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Mr. Shoulars has a wealth of professional experience with populations including child welfare, juvenile justice and adult probation. Recently, Mr. Shoulars went into private practice and is the Chief ExecutiveOfficer of M&T Counseling Services, PLLC. The company’s motto, Renewing Your Life, One Session At A Time, speaks to Mr. Shoulars’ vision to empower clients to make life changes, one step at a time. In the future, Mr. Shoulars plans to promote the growth of his business, become licensed in nearby state(s) and receive a certification in trauma.
