Interstate Counseling Compact Update: Eight additional states (Washington State, Connecticut, Montana, Kansas, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Virginia and Indiana) have entered the Interstate Compact making it a total of 27 states whose Legislation has been enacted.

RALEIGH: The U.S. public health emergency that was declared to respond to COVID-19 ended Thursday, May 11 2023. North Carolina will continue to distribute the federally funded COVID-19 vaccines and tests for free to individuals who are uninsured while supplies last. 

 

Job Opportunity: North Carolina Suicide Prevention Coordinator

 

This position will sit in the Policy Office within the Office of the Secretary and help lead the efforts of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to build an effective suicide prevention infrastructure for the state, to coordinate implementation of the Department’s 2022 Suicide Prevention Action Plan and the State’s 2015 Suicide Prevention Strategic Plan, and coordinate efforts addressing injury and death by suicide.

Member of the Week: Elizabeth "Miki" Anderson

 

Elizabeth “Miki” Anderson is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor in the state of North Carolina and a Licensed Telemental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. Miki is the owner of her own private practice, Pax Community Counseling, where she provides individual and couples counseling and supervises associate-level counselors in the state of North Carolina.

 

She is an adjunct faculty member for Northwestern University and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke while completing her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University. Additionally, she is the founder of Neurospice & Everything Nice, a collaborative community for all things mental health related.

 

When Miki is not working, she enjoys painting, photography, mixing electronic beats, relaxing outside with a nice cup of coffee, and spending time with her partner, Ryan, and two children, Nathaniel and Lisa.
